With the changing of the Iowa beer laws comes the opening up of speculation as to what will be the first bigger beers to come out of our local breweries. Last week, we heard from Rock Bottom and Peace Tree.
Today, Worth and Olde Main:
While Olde Main has decided to leave the decision up to its customers, Worth Brewing Company has already loaded the kettle. “I’m excited because of the wide selection of styles this makes available to brew and drink in Iowa,” said brewer/owner Peter Ausenhus. He’s already got a Belgian golden strong fermenting and has plans to brew a wee heavy soon.
As for Olde Main, they’ve laid out a few choices: Double IPA, Doppelbock, Russian Imperial Stout, Barley Wine and Wee Heavy. To cast your vote, click here (through March 24).
One way or another, or another, it sounds like I may have my wee heavy fix soon.
