Thanks for chiming in, Shawn. I enjoyed your piece(s), and see also that Brooks has commented on the latest ChristiaNet survey:

Feel free to reference me. I'll put together a list of links in a couple of weeks, and include yours, as well as Jonathan's Mars Hill, etc.

To all: feel free to send me links that might make sense for inclusion. Sean might want to start an organization and it will help him get started:)

Terrific investigation! Well done. As an ordained man, and a beer devotee, this is a topic close to my heart. Nearly a year ago, I posted a commentary on this subject on the site - http://beerphilosopher.blogspot.com/2007/01/toast-to-truth.html

Yours is a thorough and thoughtful treatment. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Mind if I reference it for for the BP readers?

IMHO, I think homebrewing is a true form a fellowship. Its a great way to spend time with fellow brethren and exchange ideas on faith and fellowship. I know of several Episcopalian (not Anglican) churches that operate small microbreweries that cater to the younger audiences. I even know of a local beer/bible study groups(i.e., http://www.beerandbiblestudy.org/)
We only need to look to the Trappist Monks (a Roman Catholic Order) for inspiration!!!

Oh, yeah, I met a cool Episcopalian preacher while doing a D-R tasting at Raleigh's Whole Foods. He and his wife were very interested, knowledgeable and friendly. If I hadn't already had a good church, I'd have sought them out.

Yes, I have first-hand experience with cool Episcopalians. My buddy Paul is cool. They've got a beer crew going at his church. Went to a World Beer Fest in Durham with a couple of them once. In fact, I recall going to a tasting that Julie Johnson Bradford did for their group (Kinsley Dey's church). I once did a tasting over at Paul's house, and we had the Father Dave (not sure he's a Father or a Dave, but you know what I mean) bless the proceedings before we started. That was one of the coolest prayers I've ever felt.

John:

Glad my experiences aren't isolated. I just went to a Christmas party over the weekend where a guy was just getting into homebrewing...asking me a bunch of questions. Had a great conversation. Turns out he's an Episcopalian priest. So, that means we have Presbyterians, Catholics, and Episcopals covered. : )

Dave:

I had the exact same experience. I gave a homebrewing demonstration to my Catholic church's mens group. There is not a party or gathering of adults at our church without either beer or wine or both. Most of the people I know at church consume beer. I even started a dart league in my basement pub with friends from church. My priest has consumed my homebrew and speaks highly of it to others. Also my children are now starting to drink beer and realize that moderation and good beer is the key to enjoyment. My oldest daughter is a bartender and has received several large tips because of her beer knowledge. As they say "Beer is proof that God is good"
